This work is the first part of a series of “Period Compositions” based around the Baroque sound world. Elements taken from concerti of famous composers can be heard all throughout, especially the works and styles of Vivaldi, Corelli, Zelenka, and Händel whom I have studied intensely in creating this work, though not following quite so strictly in execution. The cadenzas in the recording were all improvised by Thomas Wieland, and any subsequent performers of this work are highly encouraged to create their own cadenzas.
